Future additions, regarding basic definitions and parts of fear-avoidance model

1. Definition of avoidance: a behavioral adaptation that delays an undesirable experience
   1. emerges from conditioning to avoid certain pain-inducing situations or activities
   2. normally beneficial by encouraging a person to avoid putting stress on injuries and permitting them to heal
   3. harmful and disabling when pain persists after the injury heals and restricts normal use of the tissue;
2. Definition of anxiety sensitivity: the fear of the symptoms of anxiety
   1. emerges from belief that symptoms of anxiety will lead to harmful social and physical effects
   2. leads to the avoidance of many stimuli, especially those related to pain-inducing situations and activities

   2. elaboration on model: The misinterpretation of pain leads to the fear and avoidance of pain-related situations or activities. This avoidance behavior leads to hypervigilance and disability, which can then lead to positive feedback to the perceived level of pain and depression. However, if the patients perceive the pain in a nonthreatening manner, they will confront the pain-related situations or activities and eventually recover.

Anxiety sensitivity

Some clarification for this sentence might be good."Anxiety sensitivity is the fear of the symptoms of anxiety" It seems redundant to say that they have anxiety about anxiety, but maybe that is actually what it is.

Chronic Pain

"As a result, the individual repeatedly avoids the pain-inducing activity and most likely overestimates any future pain from the activity." This sentence is a little confusing to me, because you talk about the pain-inducing activity as though you have already talked about it before. I agree^, also minor thing but I think it's a bit redundant to say "The fear-avoidance model (or FA model) is a model that describes how individuals..." I would just say "The fear-avoidance model (or FA model) describes how individuals..." Sailor4510 (talk)

Controversy

This part is a bit unclear. Maybe explain what about the research has led some to question its validity? Referencing specific studies or results in this section might be a good way to flesh this topic out.
