This redirect should never have been changed. The term Gold Master refers to a master recording for mass manufacturing. It is not the same thing as a Golden Master, which is more often used to describe software.

As far as I am aware, the term "Golden Master" is largely used by Apple alone. Gold Master is, in my experience, a far more common way to refer to such software builds.

Similar to music recordings, Gold Master does indeed refer to a master recording which was then sent to reproduction plants for mass manufacturing. For example, the term is used extensively within console development for the item to deliver to the console manufacturer for conversion to a master recording and subsequent mass pressing.

Direct links to console development documentation cannot be supplied due to copyright issues, however searching a game dev focused website such as http://www.gamasutra.com will supply many hits for the term "Gold Master" over more than a decade, whereas searching for the term "Golden Master" results in no hits.
