Keyboard grips?
[edit]Suggestion: Since Matched grip and traditional grip were recently added to this page to consolidate the topics, I propose adding Stevens technique, Burton grip, and Fulcrum grip to the article. This page mentions some things about keyboard instruments but none of the major keyboard multi-mallet grips are explored in any detail. Ryukin (talk) 19:49, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- I feel like four-mallet grips deserve their own page, as this page focuses primarily on two mallet grip (on mallet percussion, two mallets are played with matched grip). Adding four mallets might make it too lengthy. Perhaps make a small note about four mallets in this page and link the other articles. I do think Burton and Fulcrum grip could be merged into one article though as "Cross Grip" as they are two subsets of it. So to sum up, three pages for percussion grips. An overview of grips (this one, focusing on Traditional and Matched), Stevens/Musser Grip, and then Cross Grips (focusing on Burton, Traditional, and Fulcrum). Also, note that in four mallets traditional grip is another form of cross grip not to be confused with the traditional grip used on snare. ([1]) Why? I Ask (talk) 22:20, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
That’s one way to do it. Probably reasonable. It’s just funny that the individual 2 stick/mallet grip pages were too short (stubs) and got added to a page that seems like it should include all major grips... but actually adding all major grips would be too long? Perhaps another way to go would be to have separate battery and keyboard grip pages explicitly and not try to combine them in any way. Rather than have 2-mallet in with battery grips and 4-mallet keyboard separated. So accordingly traditional/mismatched grips would not be mentioned at all on the keyboard grip page and 4-mallet wouldn’t be mentioned at all on the other page. Just a thought. The way it is now is sort of strange with keyboard grips split like this. Ryukin (talk) 18:06, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
- don't think adding mention of the additional 2 stick/mallet grip is an issue in terms of article length, this is not a particularly 'long' entry as it stands. Acousmana (talk) 08:40, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
