Same as the People’s Freedom Party (Green), Nepal?
[edit]thumb|right|T-shirt for the People’s Freedom Party (Green), Nepal.
I have this T-shirt. Is this the same party? – Kaihsu (talk) 13:47, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- Good question. The web adress would point to a yes, see http://web.greens.org/nepal/ . However, phone number and post box are different. When was it bought? This 2010 document http://apgn2010.org/apgreens/thenetwork still states the party name as 'Hariyali Nepal Party'. There is a Rastriya Janamukti Party and a splinter Janamukti Party. Perhaps this 'Janamukti Party (Hariyali)' is the result of a merger? googling the nepalese name gives zero hits. This 2000 report HNP and Janamukti Party as parts of the same alliance. --Soman (talk) 00:08, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- But this party is mentioned in 2007 (http://anlus.wordpress.com/category/seminars/), but the Hariyali Nepal Party still exists as of 2008. So it would seem the two are different somehow. People's Freedom Party (Green) was led by Maita Lal Gurung. But Maita Lal Gurung was a Hariyali Nepal Party candidate in 2008, http://www.nepalhomepage.com/politics/elections/general2056/factsfig/searchdata.php?PARTYCODE=95 . He is also listed as a founding member of Hariyali Nepal Party, http://www.mail-archive.com/stpaul@mnforum.org/msg06017.html . He was also a pop musician in his youth btw, http://tamagi.co.uk/Kumar%20Pushpa.htm . This article http://www.nepalitimes.com.np/issue/2007/04/13/GuestColumn/13421 gives another name, which could be the result of a mix-up. My guess is that perhaps the party adopted the name 'Janamukti Party (Hariyali)' temporarily (for example after merger with any splinter group of Janamukti Party) but then changed back to contest the 2008 elections. Here (from 2006) you find the name 'People's Freedom Party (Progressive Green)', http://www.martinchautari.org.np/politics_and_research_series_2006.html . So it seems this is the same party somehow. You could also write to Gurung directly and ask, http://www.facebook.com/people/Maitalal-Gurung/1014180754 . --Soman (talk) 00:25, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
