Copyedit : A problem with the article is that it seems to refer to a well-defined "format", whereas after a few lines it explicitly says that no precise definition exists. Not sure what the correct solution is: if Microsoft defines the format exactly then we should probably refer to their definition, and list variations as variations; otherwise I'd suggest rewording the initial paragraph along the lines of "INI file is the name given to a non well-defined configuration file format used by Microsoft Windows applications etc." (just a sketch... to be much improved, of course)
