Secretary general of the ANC
He was secretary general of the ANC until Polokwane. This should be stated, it is a significant position in the ANC. The article makes it seem like he came from nowhere to be elected which isn't the case.--90.213.18.236 (talk) 20:17, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Resolved– before I got here. His SG tenure is discussed. Jlalbion (talk) 17:51, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Not yet the president
It has not yet been announced that he is the president. It has, however, been hinted, at most. 165.146.46.125 (talk) 13:34, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Resolved– before I got here. He did become president! Jlalbion (talk) 17:51, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Acting president
Just to note, Motlanthe won't be "acting president" - he will be president in full capacity until the next elections. Claidheamhmor (talk) 10:07, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- I clarified that the "caretaker" label is not about the official status of his presidency. Jlalbion (talk) 17:51, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
"Academic credentials"
Why is this section here, especially when its only content is a series of question marks? Sectori (talk) 13:12, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Mbeki forced to resign
Thabo Mbeki was not forced to resign. He was requested to resign by the ANC NEC and then dually oblidged. He could have chosen to stay in office and face charges or a vote of no confidance against him. I think the opening line should be changed to "...after Mbeki was asked to resign..." 196.212.22.209 (talk) 12:04, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well then, just change it! Roger (talk) 18:09, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Elected president by Parliament
I have added 'by Parliament' because there was no public election.... This guy(Kgalema Motlanthe) has been forced into the Presidency. "Coup d'état" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alanrburns (talk • contribs) 22:10, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, that is an improvement. (BTW, the second part of your comment is irrelevant to the article talk page. This is not the place for discussing the subject or expressing a POV - it's the place for discussing improvements to the article. See WP:TALK) Zaian (talk) 06:51, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Infobox item: vice president
"Vice President" is incorrect, it should be "Deputy President". I don't know how to change it. Roger (talk) 20:12, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
Vusi Pikoli's dismissal
Mathematical impossibility: "However, on December 12 2008, the Parliament of South Africa voted to support Motlanthe's decision in a 65% to 45% split." I have cleaned this up and cited sources.
Early life section is a mess
The early life section is very mixed up - the chronological progression of his education is unclear, it is interspersed with various "comments" about his parents and even grandparents. The section also includes material that belongs in the Political career - his activities in the ANC and MK are not part of his childhood or education. The section is very poorly sourced.
