You can be allergic to anything
[edit]So what is the point of this page. --Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 06:08, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
- Agreed - this page is a near-total loss. Wondered about a "common allergen" category instead, but that would be vague without a well-sourced list or every substance in WP would be a candidate. -- Scray (talk) 22:13, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Treatment column
[edit]...seems pointless. For any true allergy, if someone's having a severe IgE-mediated reaction, then they should receive epinephrine; likewise, allergies can generally be managed by avoidance of the allergen. In many cases, antihistamines can be helpful - and above all, WP is not a treatment manual. There is no clear basis for the data that are/aren't included in the column currently. So, what's the point of that column (yes, some would question the existence of this page, but that's been discussed recently and I don't want to go there). -- Scray (talk) 20:06, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- After 4 months I see no objection, so I will delete the "treatment(s) may include" column. -- Scray (talk) 21:59, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- As creator of the article, I approve completely. It's a much more credible article now. I don't know why I added it in the first place. Good call and thanks for the effort. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:03, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
Codiene
[edit]Respiratory depression is a symptom of an opioid overdose—not an allergic reaction. It occurs with all opioids (not just codiene) and it is more dangerous with more potent ones, like morphine, heroin, and fentanyl. Both allergic reactions and overdoses are serious, even potentially fatal, but they are different hazards. Donfbreed (talk) 21:56, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
- Removed as suggested. -- Scray (talk) 22:13, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
