Requested version by User:Lilarose13 presented here for commentary
[edit]- COMMENT by Mabalu (talk) 23:32, 12 May 2014 (UTC) - I've cut out the bits that haven't been modified in order to focus on the suggested alternatives. Lilarose13's original submission can be viewed here in full. The text in italics is the altered version:
1st requested edit
[edit]- Born: June 28, 1960 (age 53), Puckaun, North Tipperary.
- ACCEPTED - Louise Kennedy's official bio on her site is more than acceptable to support biographical details like this.
2nd requested edit
[edit]- In 1990 she was commissioned to design an inauguration outfit for Mrs Mary Robinson, the first female President of Ireland, for this the President wore a purple moiré silk outfit and she continued to dress the President throughout her term in office and thereafter.[3]
- PARTLY ACCEPTED - I have rephrased this somewhat, trying to strike a balance between this and my original text. I have removed the reference to wool (although this is stated in the source citation).
3rd requested edit
[edit]- In the Mid 90’s Louise joined the British Fashion Council where she showed biannually during London fashion week. [1]
- PARTLY ACCEPTED - The original edit is word-for-word verbatim with a sentence on the official bio, which is considered copyvio. However, the statement is factual enough to be supported by the bio. I have added a sentence to paraphrase the above, avoiding the impression of copyright violation.
4th requested edit
[edit]- She opened her flagship store located at 56 Merrion Square Dublin in 1997, the same year in which she designed uniforms for flight staff on Aer Lingus.[1]
- ACCEPTED - It is fine to use biography as a cite for the address. I will keep the "and London" in as this is supported by the Debrett cite.
5th requested edit
[edit]- In 2011 Kennedy started offering bespoke wedding dresses in the recently launched bridal room which houses a bespoke bridal collection exclusively stocked at her headquarters in Merrion Square.[10]
- NOT ACCEPTED - This sentence is too promotional and reads like advertising, which is not encyclopaedic. The statement already in the article (the first part of the above sentence) gives the essential information.
5th requested edit
[edit]- 2013 marked an important anniversary for Louise Kennedy where she celebrated thirty years in the fashion industry and also launched the limited edition “Kennedy bag” designed by Louise Kennedy herself in collaboration with Tanner Krolle, Britain’s iconic leather goods company. The bag is constructed using French leather hand crafted in Italy with a labour intensive raw edge construction. [11]
In April 2014, Louise was one of the chosen Irish Designers to dress Mrs. Sabina Higgins, wife of President Higgins on their official state visit to the UK. [12] Kennedy has also dressed members of the British, European and Middle Eastern Royal families. Other supporters include Sarah Brown, Cherie Blair, Angelica Huston, Meryl Streep, Anide McDowell, Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, Jo Malone, Emma Thompson, Yasmin Le Bon and the late Elizabeth Taylor. [13]
- NOT ACCEPTED - This is almost exactly word for word the same as Kennedy's official biography. However, I will incorporate a few of the facts which are supported by the "in the bag" newspaper article, and have found appropriate third party sources for the Sabina Higgins statement. I will look for third-party refs to support the celebrity clients, although I'm not sure we need to list them all.
In conclusion
[edit]Thank you to Lilarose13 for proposing and requesting these edits. I hope that you approve of the edits I have made to the article based on your suggestions. Best, Mabalu (talk) 23:32, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you so much for the updates! Please could you post any future edit requests on the talk page of the page you are requesting edited - in this case, Talk:Louise Kennedy instead of on your talk page? It's lucky I still watch your talk page because otherwise this request may have gone completely unnoticed. Also, please note that - as was explained before - we require third-party sources for the majority of information in biographical articles. Louise Kennedy's own website is not an appropriate source except for very specific details - we need other sources that are not directly affiliated with her in order to make sure that the page is not reliant on press releases or the designer's own publicity. There should be news reports and other sources noting these awards, so I will have a look and add the new information in, if the sources can be found. All best, Mabalu (talk) 01:43, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
Lilarose13 (talk) 15:06, 14 December 2014 (UTC) Thank you Mabalu for coming back to me. Going forward I will ensure to always post to this page as it is important that these elements get updated. I appreciate that we require third party references that are independent to our website, I can see that you were able to locate for her recent doctorate, thank you so much. A further more recent piece of information would be the following:
On December 3rd 2014, Louise was invited to become an ambassador for the GREAT Britain campaign by Prime Minister David Cameron in recognition of her personal support and contribution to the UK’s most ambitious international promotional campaign ever. The GREAT Britain campaign showcases the very best of what Britain has to offer to encourage the world to visit, study and do business with the UK, to deliver jobs and growth at home.

I look forward to hearing form you as to how best this can be referenced.

- Hi Lilarose13! Thanks for this. This information is good, although I have concerns about how very promotional the language is - it will need toning down. This WWD article] is a good source. Mabalu (talk) 00:15, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
Thank you Mabalu for coming back to me, how best can we assist you to ensure this goes up on the site as it is important factual information that should appear? Lilarose13 (talk) 14:48, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
- I already added it to the article last night. Mabalu (talk) 16:54, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
