Added by Alfie J S Goodrich, of Monmouth, Wales, UK. "Colonel Buckmaster was my great-great uncle. My mother, Eileen Goodrich MBE [nee Buckmaster], 1932-2005 http://www.towncrier.org.uk/community/494.tc , was recently involved with the Violette Zsabo Museum in Wormelow], Hereford http://www.specialforces.co.uk/violette.htm and the poem which Leo Marks wrote for Violette [The LIfe That I Have] as her code poem was read out by the curator of the Museum at my mother's memorial service and MBE presentation.'
"Maurice had a brother, Herbert Buckmaster, who was the first husband of the actress Gladys Cooper and founder of the Bucks' Club in Saville Row, London, of which HRH Prince Philip was once a member."
Maurice Buckmaster (1910-1992) OR Maurice Buckmaster (1902-1992) ?
- I am also a relation of the article's subject (a grand-grand nephew), and am disappointed to find the article so short. RedRabbit (talk) 05:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
If you have seen the expose of Maurice Buckmaster about his stupidity and multiple failures at SOE, you will not be so quick or so happy to claim to be his relative, no matter how distant. Even during his tenure at SOE as section chief for section F, professional intelligence officers at SIS claimed that he was not intelligent enough to be in intelligence. The TV expose of the many failures of his operations, his ignoring many warning signals, and his harboring suspicious and compromised staff in key and leadership positions certainly proved he's not competent at all for his job and responsible for hundreds of French and British agents' captures and death.~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by VimalaNowlis (talk • contribs) 03:51, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

- To be fair Buckmaster had nothing to do with Holland and the debacle there called Englandspiel. He had a similar debacle with the Prosper Network in France.Smallchief (talk)

Needs to include
[edit]I believe info on the fact that his own stupidity led to the capture and deaths of many of the SOE agents in France needs to be included. 03:48, 7 March 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.156.177.183 (talk)
Buckmaster was a disaster at SOE and many questions have been raised about his assistant Vera Atkins. There is no hint of this in the short article. Envirlaw@aol.com on 12 June 2012. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.96.198.159 (talk) 01:37, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
With spymasters like him, who needs enemies? I am surprised that he was not court marshalled for his many failures. What about the head of SOE who was his supervisor and ultimately responsible for all the SOE operations? No wonder SIS thought SOE is a strictly amateur operation.~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by VimalaNowlis (talk • contribs) 03:44, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
