Use the form shown in the credits per guidance at WP:TVCAST. If there is a preference that matters to the actor (MOS:PERSONAL) it will be shown in how credited as the production will honor an actors choice on how to present their name. The footnote is appropriate and the linked actor article gives more details. Just going by what is in IMDb it looks like normal proper name capitalization is used but actual episode credits should be looked at to verify. WP:TVCAST states that they can also be referred to 'by common name supported by a reliable source'. The preference for menas to use lowercase is clearly established [1][2][3][4][5]
It's also worth noting this footnote was added to explain why the name was in lowercase, which is how it was written on this page until a few days ago. Right now it essentially serves as trivia, but trivia we're choosing to ignore in how their name is written DeputyBeagle (talk) 11:16, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On-screen credits override MOS:TVCAST, as per WP:PRIMARY. MOS:TVCAST is the fallback if there are no credits or there are partial credits, as is often the case for main cast and characters, where the credits show the actor names, but not the character names, and we normally just list the characters by their first names only, unless there is a secondary source with their last names. You are finding a decision that wasn't there. The discussion was specifically about the article name and not about how it should be expressed within the article DeputyBeagle (talk) 22:57, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article name reflects most common usage - that is the point of the move discussion. Conclusion is that the non-standard capitalization didn't have sufficient support in independent third party sources to meet MOS:LCITEMS and WP:COMMONNAME unlike for example k.d. lang. Credits are what the actors wants them to be and in this project normal proper name capitalization reflects the actor's actual preference. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:22, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As stated the footnote is unnecessary if the purpose was to explain the non-standard name capitalization. As it has nothing to do with this TV series, no need to explain anything when the actor's article is linked. Basically readers looking for info on the TV series won't care or notice.
