about the merge

I advocate for the article to remain distinct. I think this article is currently a stub and can include information about municipal governments in other countries. Thus it seems more prudent to call this a stub than to merge this with the US and exclude other municipal governments under different countries.

I disagree. My primary reason is that different countries have different definitions of a municipality. I think it would be better if the information in this page were moved to Local government in the United States, as it seems to be describing the same thing, and this page made into a redirect to the more general Local government page. I'll carry this out in a few days if no-one objects -Kieran 17:48, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
