Category: People From Amritsar

[edit]

Is it correct to categorize Navjot Singh Sidhu as "people from Amritsar" only because he is the MP from Amritsar? It is a well known fact that he is from Patiala.

"People from Amritsar" categorization should be removed.

Better image

[edit]

There is a better image that is completely free to use, CC, at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ramkrsna/327515519/ if someone wants to grab, crop, and properly attribute to it. I'm not 100% sure that is the same guy or I would myself. The current image, well, is lacking. Dennis Brown (talk) 16:04, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sidhu's Assault on Security Guard

[edit]

I don't see what the fuss is all about. There are dozens of reputable sources that have reported this incident. Remember, verifiability not truth.

User SilkTork is completely ignorant of BLP rules. Read the BLP rules again:

Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libellous.

See the part where it says unsourced or poorly sourced.

In this case of the assault on security guard, the section includes only the FACTS (not inferences) that have been reported by all the major newspapers in India, including the Times of India, the most reputable newspaper in India. So it's clearly not unsourced or poorly sourced.

Prachursharma (talk) 04:31, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an alleged incident the truth of which is disputed by the subject of this article. The language of "Criminal Activities" is highly inappropriate, leading the reader to a negative view of the subject of this article. The wording of "brutal assault", "dumping the body", etc, is not suitable for an encyclopedia, and those facts are not supported by the sources. The sources indicate a dispute between toll guards and people in the subject's car. The subject accused the toll guards of damaging his car, the guards' version of events range from verbal abuse to kidnapping. The police have decided not to take action. The incident is minor, purely topic, mostly gossip and rumour, and has clearly been blown out of proportion. WP:NOT#NEWS and WP:BLP are the policies that apply here. Prachursharma has been previously warned for including inappropriate BLP material. Prachursharma will now get a final warning. SilkTork ✔Tea time 08:42, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Stop supporting criminals and murderers. If the newspapers say that Navjot Singh Sidhu has murdered somebody, then Wikipedia can report the same. Nobody gives a rat's ass about what Navjot Singh Sidhu thinks of this incident.103.68.221.63 (talk) 12:49, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Even the conviction for homicide is disputed by the subject of the article. The subject of the article himself cannot be considered to be a reliable source. If there is a dispute between the two groups then according to NPOV rules both sides should be portrayed fairly on Wikipedia. The entire section should not be removed. The incident is not gossip or rumor (Though User SilkTork may think otherwise, because of his delusions), because as I have stated several times before, the incident has been covered by major news sources. POV in Cricket section

[edit]

The cricket section uses lots of WP:PEACOCK and WP:WEASEL words. I'm going to try to rewrite this section, but until I do, the POV tag needs to remain. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:05, 16 March 2015 (UTC)  Fixed I removed all of the offending phrases that I noticed. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:12, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please draft the article at Draft:Gaddar Singh Sidhu, and then submit it to WP:AFC for review if you would like to create a new page. DannyS712 (talk) 23:03, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
DannyS712, just to clarify, gaddar (written as गद्दार in Hindi) is a Hindi/Urdu word which means traitor. So if someone creates any article or redirect about the subject with this name, then it should be speedy deleted as a BLP violation.
PS: The subject of this article tried to support Pakistan after the 2019 Pulwama attack, which sort of made him a national villain in India. :) He was also removed from a TV show. - NitinMlk (talk) 21:29, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Navjot Sidhu was not a member of the 1983 world cup winning team. This is factually incorrect. Peelusrinivasan (talk) 22:47, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why early life sub-section have political career info ???

[edit]

This info should be in political career section. Personal life section must have to be included, in which his early life, family info have to be added. In many speeches Siddhu said that Pakistani PM Imran Khan is his best friend, this line have to be included in personal life section.[1][2] [3] Newton Euro (talk) 12:06, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
