Game type?

[edit]

What kind of game is SD-Snatcher? The data box gives it as 'Adventure (digital comic)', yet the article calls it an RPG and belongs to a couple RPG categories. Even the packaging displays 'RPG'. I'd say it's an RPG myself, too. Should the data box be changed? --Bakabaka 08:42, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RPG. Go ahead. --Kizor 17:04, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia about extra stage

[edit]

Instead of starting an edit war, I'd like to discuss a recent addition by 84.215.91.46 here. I removed this piece of trivia, since I think it's non-notable, especially in the perspective of this article. This is info that is suited for a game-guide site, but not for Wikipedia.

Honestly, SD-Snatcher is not very notable a game and this article is small at best, *as it should be*. I guess that the article in general should grow a little before we start adding tiny facts like these. Come on, the game's story and setting have only been touched upon for the tiniest bit in the article and the trivia bit mentions a specific in-game location (Syd Garden), this is not going to make any sense to an outsider.

Moreover, I'd like to point out that trivia sections are discouraged and that the style guide discourages the reader being addressed ('...you can disable...'). If you feel the need to add this info, please conform to these guidelines. Lastly, the way the trivia was posted ('added a pesonal discovery!') seemed to me as if it were original research, also heavily discouraged at best. As I said in my reversal comment, this info is about 15 years old, you can come up with a source if you just google. -- Bakabaka (talk) 17:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. You seem to be more of a deletionist than an inclusionist, I will not debate with you whether this should be part of Wikipedia. I do agree with you that this might not be the best moment to add this information.
In my defense, I read on several websites about how to access the hidden stage by half-ejecting the disc, and hadn't seen any mention of the castle in Syd Garden. Even the quite extensive website sdsnatcher.net asks where these graphics fit in the game. I euphorically concluded that this was not known before, and that I could contribute a piece of knowledge that was not (at least not widely) known. Now I Googled it a bit better, and did find a forum topic on msx.org that discusses the discovery, dating from 2005.
It was a little bit childish to revert your undo again. I'll delete it.
I have to admit that I'm no inclusionist, indeed. True enough, my intial reversal of your addition was rather speedy and rude -- my apologies for that. If you're a new user (as your contributions page suggests), please feel welcome to Wikipedia and continue to be bold!
I do remember reading a Dutch MSX Magazine (I guess it was called exactly that, 'MSX Magazine') back in the early nineties that contained info on the extra stage, even including a savegame inside the stage on its accompanying disk magazine. Hm, good old times... -- Bakabaka (talk) 22:12, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
