Expanding

Very nice job PalaceGuard008, many thanks :-) Some thoughts I have on this article as it expands... I really like the way the descriptions have been added, the refs added, and the choice of pictures. I really really like this one,[1] maybe it should go in the lead? This [2] is just the kind of source I was looking for to explain the politics of the project, two years from now we may be able to use the images [3] when 50 years has passed from 59. A duplicate ref to add to this [4] on the initial list of buildings may be this.[5] It has additional information about each building with historical photos. It also has links to the 八十年代 and 九十年代 buildings. Maybe we want to add them, I'm still not sure—I like that this article focuses on the original ten. I'm trying to see this article expanding to FA but with them added it may turn into too much of a listfest. Furthermore, I don't have any printed information about them for source material. Continue as you please PalaceGuard008, I'm really happy with this article so far, and have some ideas for text I can add in the coming weeks.D. Recorder 04:30, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for the encouraging words. I'm personally a bit ambivalent about the 80s and 90s buildings - especially the 90s ones, which feel a bit kitsch, like the new 7 wonders of the world. But I think it would be a good idea to at least mention - and have a short section or just a list of them.

The beijing.gov.cn link is very useful - I'll try to source info from there. I think the recent debates about heritage protection - especially after the demolition of the Overseas Chinese Building, and current modifications to the National Museum, will also make an interestin subsection. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 12:38, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
