Theodoric

[edit]

Is the germanic name Theodoric related to Theodore, i would assume so but I'm curious since there were a few famous goths and franks by that name. 64.191.211.54 (talk) 20:10, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is not at all. Theodoric (or more correctly Teodoric) was formed from tiud-ric, meaning people-ruler. Nothing to do with Greek.

Gift of God

[edit]

dictionary.com says the etymology is "gift of god" rather than "god given". That makes more sense to me as the root greek words are nouns. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.175.11.48 (talk) 19:00, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese version

[edit]

Unless this is a fairly well known Japanese name in its own right notability is really pretty marginal - especially if we wanted to include several variants? I think so anyway. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 01:42, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
