Author article
[edit]@Dimadick, Lennart97, Piotrus, SchmuckyTheCat, Colonestarrice, and DanCherek: I've created an author page - I took some stuff from the prior deleted version, specifically the book list, some bio info (DOB, birthplace), and the image that was previously on the page. I created a section for the CY series as a whole (as in plural series). I figure that if anyone wants to redirect the other pages here, that's an option. - Thank you for creating the article! If there are no objections, I will redirect the book articles. Despite the "no consensus" close of the AfD I do see a rough consensus for a merge and it doesn't seem like there's anything else left to merge from those articles, as they almost entirely consist of plot summaries. - That's fine with me. And ReaderofthePack, thanks for taking the time to write this. Colonestarrice (talk) 21:48, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
- @ReaderofthePack Sounds good. Can I be a bit of a spoilsport and ask what makes the author pass NBIO/NAUTHOR/etc.? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:21, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- His works have been the primary subject of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews so I believe he meets WP:NAUTHOR per my reasoning at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Raising Atlantis. DanCherek (talk) 14:39, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
- His works have been reviewed multiple times and one of his books ended up on the NYT Bestseller lists for MM paperbacks. Admittedly the notability here is very borderline, but I think the mentions of his work in journals helps him squeak by. I'd created this as an alternative for the individual book articles, as individually their notability is even more borderline. Personally I would rather that all of his works redirect to his article, but I know that was a point of contention in the AfD so it'd have to be discussed. I've gone ahead and redirected the book articles. Lennart97 (talk) 21:15, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
I don't care enough about this author or his books for more followup or to move the data. The merge here deletes all the basic information (isbn, dates, etc) from the infoboxes and sourced reviews from the book articles. In the AfD I said a merge was appropriate if it kept that information but otherwise I opposed a soft delete. This merge was a soft delete. Ugh. Try harder to take all available information, including metadata, when merging. The lack of metadata really f*s mechanical linking of books between sites. What a shame! I don't care either. Lennart97 (talk) 11:11, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
