POV
[edit]There's definitely some POV issues with this article. It seems unlikely to me that the view of Medieval Venice as an objectivist's wet dream is the only one presented by historians.
It's not Medieval Venice as a whole that is being characterized, but the social occasions on which Venetian masks were worn. The statements here are fairly broad and general- used to disguise social status to allow participation in activities to some degree transgressive= perhaps very much or just slightly. Have a practical problem. In the Bauta section, the 2 citation [4] and [5] can be used to verify nearly the whole section including the hint that no weapons were allowed when wearing the Bauta. The 1970 book and additional sources to be found in the scientific blog give have the necessary hints to Italian archives. At the moment, [4] and [5] are placed behind the first sentence of the section. Should they be moved to the end of the section? Or is it implicit that the citytion refers to the whole section? missing information that is misplaced in other article
[edit]The Carnival_of_Venice article contains a whole section about the different types of masks, while the Venetian_masks article (where it would belong) does not contain such information about the masks. Since the Venetian_masks article is linked at the beginning of the text about the masks, it might be wiser to move the mask type description from Carnival_of_Venice to Venetian_masks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.194.115.191 (talk) 13:55, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
I agree, the Carnival_of_Venice article and the Venetian_masks article are badly structured and have too much overlapping. Wikiproject Italy
[edit]I thought this should definately be part of wikiproject italy, I've rated it as start for obvious reasons and I haven't rated its importance because simply, I don't know its importance to italy or outside italy. I think its as important as the Carnival of Venice in some ways, but perhaps not because its a peripheriphal of that topic El.numbre (talk) 19:54, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Who supplied masks?
[edit]This article states that Il Canovaccio in Venice supplied the masks for "Eyes Wide Shut," however, the Web site of Ca' Macana, another Venetion mask-maker, states that it was the supplier of the masks.
There may have been more than one shop. However, the one listed is verifiable from independent (thrid-party) sources.--WickerGuy (talk) 15:08, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
