Name transliteration
[edit]@SLBedit: Hi, I am contacting you because I can't move this article to Vitali Lystsov and I found out that it was you who moved it originally. In my opinion, there are several reasons to move the article back to Vitaly Lystsov:
- Per Wikipedia:Romanization of Russian;
- Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Russia);
- UEFA website uses Vitali Lystsov, just like other sources.
In my humble opinion, and according to my knowledge of the Russian alphabet, the most correct transliteration of the player's name (Виталий Александрович Лысцов) is Vitaly Aleksandrovich Lystsov, and I think that Vitali Lystsov is also acceptable. Now, the letter "ц" in particular can be transliterated as "ts" or "c" (read like "ts"), never "tc". Furthermore, this transliteration (Lystcov) is prone to misleadings, as I have already seen Portuguese sources using Lystkov and pronouncing the name like that. That doesn't happen if we use Lystsov. Even if the Lystcov form were correct in Portuguese language, it is absolutely not correct in English language, and at the English Wikipedia, English language prevails.
Please tell me your thoughts. Thank you in advance. The Replicator (talk) 15:21, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
