1972 Conference for Women in the Visual Arts
The Conference for Women in the Visual Arts was convened in Washington, DC in April 1972. It was the first national meeting of women arts professionals and was the foundation for feminist arts organizing in the ensuing decades.
Co-sponsored by the Corcoran Gallery and School of Art and the University of Maryland.
This was a pivotal event in the Feminist Art Movement in the United States. Some of the participants included Linda Nochlin, Alice Neel, and Judy Chicago. ….
