SDI Technologies is the name of a consumer electronics manufacturer whose products are marketed under several national brands, including Timex, Sylvania, and iPod. They used to market under Soundesign, a now defunct brand. They are affiliated with KIDdesigns, a manufacturer of child-oriented toys and games. SDI Technologies employed 110 in 2007, and has a distribution network that covers over 45 countries. Including Asia, SDI employs over 400 (probably the sweatshop workers, really).
History
[edit]SDI Technologies was founded in 1956. In that year, they introduced one of the first pocket cigarette lighters and transistor radios.

- 1970: Introduced the world’s first Stereo Rack System
- 1972: Introduced the world’s first cassette clock radio
- 1983: Introduced the world’s first telephone clock radio
- 1989: Introduced KIDdesigns division to market Playskool toys
- 1993: Signed license agreements with Timex & Zenith to market audio electronics.
- 2007: Signed license agreements with SanDisk and Microsoft to market audio electronics for the Sansa and Zune.
