Qaqsal (қаз. "Қақсал", рус. "Каксал") - is a kazakh clan, a sub-clan of Shegindiq inside of the Argyn tribe. Qaqsal clan is well-spread in several districts of the Akmola region as Astrakhan, Atbasar and Tselinograd districts. Some of Qaqsal kazakhs live in Qostanay, North-Kazakhstan and a very few in Omsk region.

Genealogy

According to the Kazakh Shezhire, all kazakh clans are originated from one ancestor Alash who had three sons: Aqarys, Dzhanarys, and Beqarys. All these three sons became ancestors of three kazakh zhuzs. Aqarys became a leader for the Senior Zhuz (the territory of the South and South-East of Kazakhstan), Dzhanarys of the Middle Zhuz (North, North, East, and Central Kazakhstan territory), and Beqarys (West of Kazakhstan).

Dzhanaryshe (the second Alash's son) had 6 sons: Qara-qodzha, Dara-qodzha, Aq-qodzha, Esimkül-qodzha, Aqtanberdy-qodzha, Qasym-qodzha.
Qara-qodzha had two sons: Argyn and Qypshaq.
Argyn had two sons: Qutan and Butan.
Qutan had 7 sons: Meyram-sopy, Aq-sopy, Qara-sopy, Sary-sopy, Aryq-sopy, Nadyr-sopy,and Tañby-sopy.
Meyram-sopy had 6 sons who had became the ancestor for the majority of Argyn kazakhs living today in Kazakhstan: Quandyq, Süyndyq, Begendyq, Shegeñdyq, Bolat-qodzha, Olzhageldy.
The forth son of Meyram-sopy - name Sheqeñdyq had only one son: Qaqsal, who had become an ancestor for the clan of Qaqsals.

Several sons from Qaqsal started their family roots and family clans living in Akmola, Qostanay, North-Kazakhstan and Omsk regions. However, most of these clans refer themselves to the one specific clan ancestor - Qaqsal.
