Clontycarty is a townland in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It lies within the civil parish of Tynan, barony of Tiranny, and is situated in Armagh City and District Council.
History
[edit]Clontycarty was previously know as 'Gortmalegg'. Clontycarty is a townland which surrounds Clontycarty Lane - a half mile council maintained lane off the A29 (Killylea Road) between the villages of Caledon & Killylea. The townland is surrounded on all sides by waterways - the Tynan River on the west, leading into the Blackwater River which snakes around to the north. This is then met which tributary ditches and marsh which circle back around to the Killylea Road.
