Emily A Smith
[edit]Emily A Smith, born on 15 October 1987, is a 28 year-old international singer, song-writer, pianist, and guitarist currently living in England.
Early life
[edit]At the age of 16 Emily joined a band at her high school.
She played various gigs with her friends around her local area which then led her to drop all of her courses that would have led to a career in medicine to pursue a career in music
Emily then studied classical piano, after encouragement from her mother her father who was also a musician and producer, with Heloisa Zani who is a professor at the University of Sao Paulo's and at the Sao Paulo Philharmonic orchestra pianist.
Background
[edit]Born in Brazil, Emily is an Italian and European citizen and in 2007 moved to Toronto, Canada.
It was in Toronto where Emily began her solo career with the support of her father who was an Italian Canadian music engineer, producer and musician.
It was here where she recorded her first ever single which was released in 2009 - Empty New World.
Career
[edit]After a successful release of her first single, unfortunately her unfolding career was temporarily put on hold for two years after suffering two serious health problems an therefore having to undergo two operations.
After Emily had successfully recovered, she then went on to write songs for her new album in preparation for her travels to Brazil and Italy.
On the 27th of January in 2013, Emily released her second album with Island & Def Jam Digital Distribution in 70 countries world wide.
During her career so far, Emily has written over thirty songs in three years.
Currently, Emily speaks four languages; English, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish.
Influences
[edit]Emily has different influences for the different aspects of her skill set.
Emily's influences in terms of singing consist of Brenda Lee because of her music history and simplicity when it comes to singing/song-writing. When Emily was younger, she listened to Dido, Evanescence, U2, Sting, Bruce Springsteen and REM.
In terms of Emily's influences when it comes to being a pianist and a songwriter, Elton John and Chopin have been heavily influential.
