Creative Endeavors
[edit]In 2009, O'Kelly joined as bassist of The Violet Hour alternative rock band and performed shows around the Los Angeles County and Ventura County areas. The Violet Hour disassembled in 2012.
In 2011, O'Kelly and two high-school friends formed the comedy musical performance group, The Holy Trinity of Sound, known for their start in Westlake High School's Senior Showcase for their performance of "Tantalizing Sarcophagus: The Falconer's Rage". After the performance rose him to local fame, O'Kelly and friends continued on within the comedy scene creating original YouTube shorts under the channel name Minecraft Battalion.
From 2011 to 2015, O’Kelly attended San Francisco State University (SFSU) in San Francisco, California. There, he founded the musical group, The Commander Rocket and Lieutenant Galaxy Experience, which quickly disassembled after graduation from the university.
Career
[edit]After graduating from SFSU, O'Kelly started his career with Fisher Investments under the wealth management division.
Shortly after, he left for a financial technology by the name of FutureAdvisor. On August 26, 2015,BlackRock entered into a definitive agreement to acquire FutureAdvisor,[1] a digital wealth management provider with reported assets under management of $600 million.[2] Under the deal, FutureAdvisor would operate as a business within BlackRock Solutions (BRS).[1] BlackRock announced in November 2015 that they would wind down the BlackRock Global Ascent hedge fund after losses. The Global Ascent fund had been its only dedicated global macro fund, as BlackRock was "better known for its mutual funds and exchange traded funds." At the time, BlackRock managed $51 billion in hedge funds, with $20 billion of that in funds of hedge funds.[3]
After spending years in the financial industry, O'Kelly displayed versatility by transitioning into a role within the technology industry. He now works with the technology giant, Google.
