Heather Ann Schmid is an international recording artist, business owner, philanthropist and TV Host. She has been called a "Global Music Ambassador" for her success in international markets.

Early Life

[edit]

Schmid was born in Hartford, Connecticut. She attended RHAM High School and Boston University as a Vocal Performance Major, training as an opera singer. In 2001 she won the title of 'Miss Millennium'.[1][2][3] She spent 2002 touring, representing the title.[4]

Music

[edit]

In 2003 Schmid recorded her first CD album of original music, an EP entitled Make a Choice which was released in June, followed by an international tour in support.[5] International touring has been important as she has received far more success in places like China and the Middle East than in her native United States.[6]

Schmid traveled to Lahore, Pakistan to help in relief of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and to perform in the World Performing Arts Festival at the Rafi Peer Theatre.[7] A chance encounter with a fan backstage on the third night of the festival strongly influenced her music career as she told Jeff Probst when interviewed on his talk show. The 17 year old had admittedly come to the concert armed with an AK-47 prepared under his jacket to assassinate the American infidel. But her performance and sincerity won him over. The incident proved inspirational for her next musical effort. She has tried to maintain that effort with her numerous return performances in Pakistan.[6]

In 2006, Schmid worked in Los Angeles producer Rich Balmer, who had just come off of engineering the Grammy Award winning The College Dropout to write and record a full album The Goddess Within released in 2006.[8] Joining Schmid on the album were Simone Sello, Klaus Derendorf, Frank Zappa alumnus Joe Travers and Staind[9]

She followed that album with the similarly titled Goddess Awaits album, released on CD in April 2010.[10] Continuing to collaborate were Balner and Sello, along with Tina Root, George Earth, Anupam Shobhakar, Mark Agnesi and Shane Fedderman.[11] Since then, Schmid has focused her distribution efforts to iTunes and other digital download formats.

Success

[edit]

Called a "Global Music Ambassador, Schmid's success has been largely international. Her first tour has begat numerous return visits to China,[12] She also appears frequently in Pakistan, home of her husband Dr. Syed Rafay Mehdi.[13] She was invited to do a personal performance for then President Pervez Musharraf.[14]

In China she is the star of her own reality show "The Ambassador" watched by 200 million viewers.[14]

Goddess Inc.

[edit]

As an entrepreneur, Schmid joined with her husband, Harvard medical professor Dr Rafay Mehdi[15] to create Goddess Inc. a Neuroscience Media Group NSMG, claiming to be the first corporation to associate neuroscience [brain science] branding in media and entertainment. "Goddess Inc. has developed proprietary Indexes and Quotient that help you measure the emotional response."[16] Together they hope to create uplifting entertainment designed to elevate discourse, bridge cultures, and foster international cooperation, goodwill, and peace.
