Forensic and Scientific Services
[edit]Forensic and Scientific Services (FSS) is part of Queensland Health and provides scientific services in the state of Queensland, Australia.
Services
[edit]FSS services are part of the government response to threats to public health, threats to the environment, epidemics, civil emergencies, criminal investigations and coroners' inquiries into reportable deaths. Services include:
- Air, water and soil testing.
- Food safety and nutrition testing.
- Environmental contaminant investigation.
- Infectious disease investigation.
- Radiation safety and assessment.
- Expert scientific advice and consultancy.
- Pharmaceutical and illicit drug analysis
- Blood alcohol and drug analysis
- Mortuary and grief counselling services, coronial pathology and toxicology services and investigation of sudden or suspicious death. These services are located in the John Tonge Centre.
- Accident, crime scene and disaster (fire, flood, explosions) evidence analysis.
- DNA profiling.
- Delivery of expert evidence in court.
