[[Sawathey Ek, OAM, is an Australian lawyer of Cambodian background. In 1983 he and his family arrived from Cambodia as refugees. After having been in Australia for 3 years, he received scholarship and completed his High School Certificate at Sydney Grammar School. In 1994, he graduated with Bachelor of Law and Administration and in 1998 was awarded LLB (Hons). After working with the Australian Red Cross he founded and chaired a number of charitable organisations including Cambodian Arts Society, Khmer Kampuchea Krom Cultural Centre and in 2007 he founded Cambodian Orphanage Fund Inc. In 2001, at the age of 31, he was awarded the Order of Australia for services to the community, and the citation including, being the advisory to the Attorney-General's Department of New South Wales.]]
