Ana Margarita Menéndez

Ana Margarita Menéndez (Ana Margo) is best known for her teen-age role as Carmen Peña in America’s first bilingual situation comedy, ¿Qué Pasa, USA? (1977)[1]. The PBS show portrayed the life and culture of Cuban-Americans’ as they coped with a new country. Menéndez, now better known as Ana Margo, played the young “girls-just-want-to-have-fun” role in the television series. After production wrapped for “¿Qué Pasa, USA?” in 1980, Ana Margo also did guest spots appearing on other television shows such as a clerk in “Jake and The Fatman” (1987), a crime drama and as Kika in “Morelia” (1995), a Mexican soap opera.

Theatre Roles

Ana has always been very involved with the theatre community in Miami, Florida and has performed in many plays.[2] One of her larger well-known performances was as Gigi in the comedic musical “Gigi” at the Teatro Repertorio Español in New York. Staying close to her Cuban heritage, Ana performed in many plays at Miami-Dade Country Auditorium. Some of the plays include “Mujeres” (1973), “La Fierecilla Domada,” and “Las Leandras,” (1979). In addition, in1977 she was casted in “El Diario De Ana Frank” at Teatro América.

Ana lives in Miami, Florida where the TV show ¿Qué Pasa, USA? was filmed. She is still an active part of her community. She works in the Public Relations/ Communication industry, has done radio appearances, hosted shows[3] and occasionally still acts. She is also the spokesperson for a chain of health clinics for Hospice Care in the Broward/Miami-Dade County on 78th Ave [August 2009].[4] She more recently became the PR director for a LASIK company called MedEye.[5]
