K.ZIA born 23 november 1993 as Kezia Clémence Amour Louise Quental, is a Martinican-Congo-Belgian future R&B/Soul Singer, songwriter and creative director. K.ZIA started her solo career in 2018 after moving to Berlin where she released her Debut EP "RED". Since then she has been creating a community around her music releasing single after single with her last one "Mon Mood" released November 27th 2020.
Early Life
[edit]Kezia was born in Brussels, Belgium November 23 19193 from internationally acclaimed artists Zap Mama and Bernard Quental. Her mother Zap Mama also known as Marie Daulne is a belgo-congolese Singer, composer artistic director. Her Father Bernard, a comedian, horse acrobat and artistic director. K.ZIA grew up between Paris (where her father lived) and Brussels (where her mother lived) before moving to New York at the age of six due to both of her parent's work. Bernard was working with le Cirque du Soleil in Canada [1], while her Mother Zap Mama was recording her fifth album Ancestry in Progress in New York City. [2]
Kezia and her mother stayed in New York for three years before returning to Brussels in 2001 for the birth of her younger Brother Zékyé.
Kezia's interest in music began at a young age while she was surrounded by Music constantly thanks to her parents professions. Whether theater, circus, recording studios, on tour, or just listening to a lot of music at home Kezia got immersed into a variety of influenced going from World Music to Soul, Jazz, to French Chanson and more. Kezia started writing music and composing in 2004 at the age of 11 while her mother was recording her Album. She further developed the interest in discovering her music skills and found refuge in R&B and soul music mainly. As she perfectioned her craft her mother started taking her on tour and have young Kezia perform as special act so she could get familiar with live performances which she seemed to have no issues with. Several years later, Zap Mama had Kezia as one of the main baking vocal on tours throughout the United States and Europe. The young artist started working outside of the family sphere around 19 years old as a session vocalist while studying PR & media in the Brussels 'Haute école' university IHECS.
In 2018 for the last year of her studies, Kezia moved to Berlin [3] for an internship at BAM Berlin (A fashion and PR company) and to write her master thesis. This is when the young artist started developing her own sound and started her Solo career as K.ZIA.
Career
[edit]K.ZIA Released her first Solo project in 2018. A 5 track EP called "RED" covering a variety of musical styles and matters of the young artist's life : Love ups and downs, soul searching and discovering her place in the world as a young, afro-decendant woman. From that moment on, her focused has been mainly focused on Live performances around the world in Countries like Germany, France, Belgium, Nigeria, Ghana, Congo and more. Indeed the young artists has already opened up for acts like Omar Lye-fook, Tayla Parx [4], Sampa the great [5], Sylvan LaCue [6] and more.
In 2017 K.ZIA landed a role in the Belgian Web Series [7] "Tribu 6.5" for the Belgian RTBF channel where she plays the role "Kezia", an adopted teenager part of a big blended family.
