Which article are you evaluating?

Red Rose, White Rose (Eileen Chang)

Why you have chosen this article to evaluate?

[edit]

First of all, I choose this article because Eileen Chang is a famous female writer in China. She has left many classic works from the unique perspective of women. “Red Rose white Rose” describes the misfortune of Chinese women in the old Chinese society under the patriarchal doctrine. This is similar to the "White-haired Girl" we learned in the course, both of which describe the status of women in the old Chinese society. Both are the experiences of women in the old times described in different geographical locations and social status in different periods of China. These experiences are somewhat similar in that they both describe the low social status of women in the old Society of China, resulting in some unfair treatment for women. Most of Eileen Chang's novels are full of tragic colors, so I felt the same way when I first saw "Red rose, white rose". Most of Zhang Ailing's novels are about love, but what she really describes behind love is the background of The Times and social problems.

Evaluate the article

[edit]

(Compose a detailed evaluation of the article here, considering each of the key aspects listed above. Consider the guiding questions, and check out the examples of what a useful Wikipedia article evaluation looks like.)

Lead Section: This article has a very clear introductory language, which introduces the author's background and the background of the article from the very beginning. The lead is concise but also contains important information. The guide language does not contain much information other than the article, except for a few references to the remake of the novel is effective article information.

Content: The Content of the article is related to the theme (some exposition or discussion of the novel). The content is up to date and there is no missing or missing content. This article does not address one of Wikipedia's equity gaps or its historically underrepresented population. In terms of content, the article is very clear and complete.

Tone and Balance: The article is neutral and not heavily biased towards the claims of a particular position, but rather a factual statement. There is no over-representation or under-representation and no attempt to support a position.

Sources and resources: All facts in the article are supported by reliable secondary Sources of information. The sources are very comprehensive. There is a lot of information from college newspapers and reputable publishing houses. The source is relatively new and seems to be constantly updated. Sources are written by different authors. As far as my personal search is concerned, I think this source is good enough, as the article also includes personal quotes from the author of the novel and most of the sources are powerful information. Links are valid, but some references are not linked, which may need to be checked by the corresponding publisher and article page.

Organization and Writing Quality: The article is very concise and easy to read. No grammar or spelling errors were found. The section of the article is reasonably distributed, and it summarizes the introduction of characters, the background and theme of the story, and even the section of literary criticism and classic quotations. The sections on the classic quotes are familiar, still popular topics of discussion today, and will be cited all the time to make their own arguments.

Images and Media: This article doesn't cite many Images, but I think it has something to do with the nature of this article. This article does not need too many images to support, a few images are enough to add color to this article. The images cited comply with Wikipedia's copyright requirements. The placement of images is reasonable, and the reading effect is better combined with the article. The best part of the image processing of this article is to add links to the text. Click on the text to see related images during reading.

Talk Page Discussion: No one has had any discussion in the Talk Page of this article. I chose this article from the Humanities project on Wikipedia because it has not been discussed on the Talk Page, so I assume that the discussion will be different from the discussion in class. The difference is that the usual discussion on Talk Page requires people who are also interested in the article. Discussion in class may be more intuitive and rapid.

Overall Impression: In general, this article gives me the impression that it is short and clear, and the author does not give too much detail in describing the story background and characters. After reading this article, I can have a very clear understanding of the novel. In the story summary, the author selected a relatively small part of the content to summarize, if not for the simplicity of the article, I think more content summary can be added.
