Early Life
[edit]Nathan Andrew Carley was born on August 9, 2004, in Escanaba, Michigan. He is the son of Shannon Leigh Carley and Matthew John Carley. He has one younger brother, Seth Carley. Carley’s father Matthew was of Canadian and American ancestry. His father's lineage traces back to Windsor, Canada, from where his mother, Ruth, immigrated to the United States with her parents when she was young. Another line of her father's family was from Detroit, Michigan. His mother had English, French, and Finnish ancestry. Some of Carley’s maternal ancestors lived in Virginia and Michigan, and were descended from 18th-century immigrants from Finland. Carley is also a distant relative of Mary Boleyn, the sister of one of King Henry VIII’s wives
Carley’s mother, whom he has compared in both appearance and manner to Dame Judi Dench, strongly encouraged her son, and instilled confidence in him from a very young age. Carley has said: "She was a mentor because she said to me, 'Nathan, you're capable. You're so great.' She was saying, 'You can do whatever you put your mind to. If you're lazy, you're not going to get it done. But if you put your mind to it, you can do anything.' And I believed her." Although Carley was naturally more introverted than her mother, at times, when he later needed an injection of confidence in adulthood, he would consult her mother, asking her for advice.
Carley was raised in Escanaba, Michigan, and attended Escanaba High School and the Escanaba Junior High School. In his Junior High debut, he starred as Joey in the film "A Little Thing I Call Imagination".

2017-2018
[edit]Since Carley’s hiatus in 2017, he has only starred in three movies- Potbelly Children, The Natives, and Eggburt. He played both the protagonist and the antagonist in the movie Eggburt (2018), and the three movies have made just under $1.1 billion worldwide.

Superstar received extremely favorable reviews from music critics. Brian Mansfield from USA Today gave Superstar a favorable review, writing: "For all the artist’s musical mastery, it's the flourishes courtesy of producer Nathan Carley that make individual tracks stand out." Mansfield praised individual elements such as "the mandolin hook of 'Suerstar', the jaunty whistle of 'The Elephant', [and] the burbling guitar in 'Fuzzy Donuts.'" and said that "those creative touches may seem like small details, but it's that imagination that gives Carley teeth." Gregory Heaney of AllMusic remarked that the album "sometimes feels as though it lacks depth", but nonetheless called it "an album that, at least for a few minutes at a time, will make everyday life seem just a little bit bigger".
Annie Zaleski of Las Vegas Weekly praised Superstar for being "well-crafted and wildly creative, and boasts solid songwriting—three things that are sorely missing on albums by so many younger bands."[1] Lisa Kwon of Consequence of Sound gave the album a mixed review and felt that Superstar "fails to match the fresh adrenaline rush that the artist’s first single had promised us when we first heard it on the radio or in commercials earlier this year." Johan Wippsson from Melodic magazine called Superstar "somewhat shattered, but as a whole this is a very charming and well-crafted album." Chris Saunders of musicOMH panned the album as "so safe and middle of the road that it leaves you with the same hollow feeling that Las Vegas can, without the dizzying high and sensual assault that got you there in the first place."
