Hugia (/hjudʒiːə/), officially the Kingdom of Hugia), is a landlocked, self-proclaimed sovereign micronation located in Oregon. It was founded on 29 January 2019 originally as The Pretty Huges. The micronation has a population of six with four of those living in the capital, Tractohall. The official languages are American English and British English.
The Hugian government is a unitary semi-constitutional monarchy under a dictatorship with six counties, one autonomous hall, and three special territories. On 12 August 2021, Henry V. (founder and current prime minister) had Hugia go into a regime change. It famously transferred from a republic into a monarchy. Two years later in July 2023, the process of defantasization began and the nation would slowly become non fictional. They would later declare independence on 11 November of that same year. The constitution was ratified on 30 May 2024, making it effective a day later.
The head of government and head of state is in control of everything in Hugia. The country uses the United States dollar as a common currency in day-to-day business (which is essential for the economy). The official currency is the Hugian Hug, with an exchange rate of 1 Hug equals to 2 USD. The country's economy is currently based on agricultural goods, especially corn and tomatoes.
History
[edit]When it came to the foundation of Hugia, it first started in a Roblox group that was known as The Pretty Huge People virtually and fictionally. Not much thought was put into it until 3 October 2020 when Hugia only became a fictional micronation. On 12 August 2021, Hugia changed its first government from a republic into a kingdom. Two years later in July 2023, it was no declared that it no longer is a fictional micronation after four years and five months of establishment.
Establishment
[edit]On 29 January 2019, Hugia was formed through a Roblox group known as The Pretty Huge People. The whole entity was inactive for the rest of 2019 until it was re-discovered again at the beginning of 2020 to celebrate its one-year of establishment. Many months later on 3 October, Hugia would become a fictional republic (Republic of Hugia) that would be founded by a character Henry V. created known as Bobbo Hugius when he was in fourth grade. Its first flag would be adopted, along with finding its location. The Hugians would claim the entire Chadian region of Sila. Also, the capital would be founded in Goz Beïda, Chad. It would be known as Hugia City.
On 12 August 2021, Hugia becomes a kingdom through a regime change. Many events took place during its fictional period. It would still be fictional after its government change until the summer of 2023.
Defantasization Period and declaration of independence
[edit]In late June 2023, Hugia's administrative divisions would all be formed. At the beginning of July, Hugia was no longer a fictional micronation. This event would be known as the Defantasization period. Talks and plans for the declaration of independence were being made. The current coat of arms would be adopted, with the abdication of Henry V. as king to his grandfather, Paul I on the same day, 5 July. Two days later, 7 July, the capital would be renamed from Hugia City to Tractohall. Two weeks later, the first physical flag of Hugia would be created. Hugia eventually declared its independence on 11 November 2023 and raised its national flag next to the Red Tractor Statue, a landmark in Veetria county.
A coup d'état took place on 9 February 2024. It lasted for almost 3 hours, started by the Confederate Counties of Hugia (CCH for abbreviation). The coup failed which led to the CCH dissolved. A few months later on May 30, the constitution will be ratified. It was effective June 1, marking the end of the defantasization period.
Post constitution ratification
[edit]Paul I was forced to resign as the monarch 20 July 2024. The throne was vacant for 15 days. On 5 August 2024, Henry V. temporarily changed the throne and appointed Lyric "I" (also known as Lyric Barnhabbler) as the first Downgraded King of Hugia. It will last until 28 January 2025. The downgraded monarch was slightly different from its counterpart, it being that all downgraded monarchs must be referred to their first name and their regnal number having quotes. The first downgraded king would be called as, "Lyric the quote unquote first".
