Palestina Monumentis Veteribus Ilustrata was written by Adrain Reland in 1695. Hadrian Reland was a geographer, philosopher and professor of dutch philosophy. The story takes place in a library in Budapest in which it contains an ancient section on Judaism, ancient relics, and manuscripts.
In 1695 Renald is sent to Palestine, modern day Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza and Israel, to identify the ancient towns and cities of the Tanah (Hebrew Scriptures) with their ancient Hebrew scripture names.
In his trip Reland finds that the population consisted of mostly Jews, with some Christians and a few Bedouins.
