Debate Korea (Korean: 디베이트코리아) is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 to foster debate education and invigorate the debate community in South Korea.
Debate Korea is the host of Korea World Universities Debating Championship 2021.
History
[edit]Debate Korea was founded in 2016 by former South Korean TV anchor Oh Sang-jin and Cornell Debate Coach Seokho Daniel Yoon to foster social innovation through debate and invigorate debate education inside the Korean circuit.[1][2]
Tournaments
[edit]Debate Korea regularly hosts tournaments for debaters from all academic levels ranging from middle school, high school, and college. "Debate Korea Week" is an annual event full of debate opportunities, workshops, and competitions for both domestic and international students of all academic levels. The week consists of Debate Korea Open (formerly known as Seoul Open), a British Parliamentary format debate tournament for university-level students, and Cornell-Yonsei Debate Invitational, a World-schools format debate tournament with a highly qualified international adjudication pool. Debate Korea also consults and assists tournament organization for domestic and international institutions in the greater Asian region.

[edit]Debate Korea has provided workshops, educational programs, and training sessions to teach young people - from underprivileged youths to novice debaters to winners of international tournaments - argumentation, public speaking, and critical thinking skills.
