I am Jonathan Hammond.

I grew up in Kent, England, latterly on the Isle of Sheppey, in the 1950s and 60s.

I now live near Carlisle in Cumbria, in the north-western corner of England. I am lucky enough to be close to the delightful Lake District, the Solway Firth coast, the Scottish Southern Uplands, the Yorkshire Dales and Hadrian's Wall.

I'm also very close to the Forest of Bowland, but after a bad experience in a hill-top bog I'm not convinced that this so lucky (the valleys are beautiful though).
