RanDy D'Ianglo Thompson (born May 15, 1989) is a iconic gay figure in the Lawrence, KS community. He is best known for his outrageous drag outfits, and infectious one-liners.
Early Life
[edit]Born May 15, 1989 in Topeka, KS to Clinton and Charlotte Thompson, he is the youngest of three. He attended Meadows Magnet School before going onto Robinson Middle School and then to Topeka High School. While in high school, he held many jobs including working at Stormont-Vail Medical Center, Aéropostale, and American Eagle Outfitters where he ultimately met his current best friend and roommate Jeff Whorton. Throughout his high school career, he also acquired his love for designer brands including Dolce and Gabbana and Coach Inc.; he was known around the Lawrence town by his large Coach tote bag.
Freshman Year
[edit]Moving In
[edit]RanDy graduated from Topeka High School in May of 2007. He continued his job at American Eagle Outfitters through the summer while awaiting his move to Lawrence to attend the University of Kansas. On August 12, 2007 he moved into Oliver Residence Hall where he lived on the 5th floor. He lived with Kalif Fuller, a freshman from Colorado, where they had many good natured arguments over the best musical performer of all time. Actively involved with his dorm, he often was found outside playing ultimate frisbee with his "girls" from the other wing in his floor.
Within the first few weeks of school, RanDy had made many connections with the gay community and befriended many men who would comprise his closest group of friends. He met Connor Stanton of Johnson City, KS, Spencer Titus of Newton, KS, and already knew Jeff Whorton. Through Connor, he met Nick Harbert of Wichita, KS and Alex Earles of Salina, KS. These men would become his closest friends.
"The Six Pack"
[edit]RanDy, Spencer, Alex, Jeff, Connor, and Nick made up the six friends that were known by many names including "The Six Pack", and "A-List Gays". Through this group he began to spread his name around the Lawrence community. Often making key appearances at parties, typically "making" the party, this group would show up in fashion at many Halloween and costume parties.
The Rest of the Year
[edit]Sophomore Year
[edit]At the end of the freshman year, RanDy moved out of Ellsworth Residence Hall. Throughout the summer he spent time with his family and started a position at Victoria's Secret, a position he would hold for just under two months.
One-Liners
[edit]Over the last few years, he started many phrases that have spread through the gay community:
"Hey Girl Hey" - taken from Keasha of A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila
"Is your quesadilla burnt up?"
"Honey Child let me tell you." - Libra of Big Brother 10
"HELLO!"
