It currently has approximately 1,601 students and 90 faculty members.[1] Lincoln High School has won Program Excellence Award for its unbelievable technology & design education department. [2] Lincoln High School is also one of the first participating districts in the Early College Alliance. Early College Alliance is a program which provides 60 free credits incorporated with Eastern Michigan University for free. [3]
History
[edit]Lincoln High School branched off of 13 one room school houses, which was the original start to Lincoln Consolidated School District (Michigan). These schools were built between 1844 through 1899, nothing on record determines which school was the old high school. On October 31, 1924 the first real Lincoln High school opened in the building that's now named Brick which went from high school, to a middle school to now a 3-5 grade school. The original high school building went though many expansions, first after 1928 a one story garage is added to the west side, secondly During the 1930s a second floor is added to the garage to have a cafeteria (this is now the Community Center, the Heritage rooms and classrooms) and thirdly a separate bus garage is added prior to 1950. After which a two story addition is added in 1951 (today housing the cafeteria and multi-age program). When naming the school "The Trailblazer School” was a name under consideration, then after years a student vote determined Lincoln was the perfured name.
Positive Behavior Supports
[edit]PBS stands for Positive Behavior Support. It is a program designed to teach respect, responsibility, and safety at school. LHS hope to encourage students to continuously make good behavioral choices by implementing this program. PBS provides teachers with information to prevent behavior problems and help make school a safe learning environment. PBS was implanted in the school because administrators wanted to increase good behavior by rewording those who acted in such good behavior.[4]
