Alan Ssali Hofmanis Alan Ssali Hofmanis[1] (Ssali Alan) is an action movie hero in East Africa and the first muzungu to appear in Ugandan cinema. He was the first American to visit and document Ramon Film Productions, a studio producing Rambo and Schwartenegger-inspired action films in the slums of Wakaliga, Uganda.
Adopted by the Nkima (Monkey) clan and given the Bugandan name Ssali, he is the international ambassador for Wakaliwood Studios and Ramon Film Productions, the production company responsible for Uganda’s first action film, Who Killed Captain Alex? (2010) and Rescue Team (2011).
Alan Ssali Hofmanis is also the Director of Special Programming for the Cinema Arts Centre in [NY]. Previously, he served as Director of Programming for the [Lake Placid Film Festival].
