Messaoud Saidani is an Associate Professor in Structural Engineering, an academic and researcher with over 30 years experience. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers. He served in its Membership Committee and its Research Panel.

Messaoud obtained a first honours degree in civil engineering (Ingeneiur d'etat) from the Ecole Nationale Polytechnique (ENP) in Algiers, Algeria, in 1986. After completing an English language course at the University of Liverpool, Messaoud embarked on a PhD in civil engineering at the University of Nottingham. Having successfully completed his PhD in 1991, Messaoud then stayed on at Nottingham as a post-doctoral research assistant working with Professor David Nethercot until 1995, and the same year joined Coventry University as a Lecturer, where is currently working an Associate Professor in Structural Engineering and Associate Director of Research and Engagement.

Messaoud has published over 150 papers and technical documents, many in renowned international journals. He is a member of the editorial board of a number of international journals.
