Line 1 is a line of Metro Bilbao operated by Metro Bilbao SA with 29 stations and a total length of 3.3 kilometres (2.1 mi). This line traverses the Bilbao metropolitan area connecting Etxebarri in the south to the coastal town of Plentzia in the north. The line runs for the most part on the right side of the Bilbao estuary, except for when running through the city centre.

Overview

The line starts at the municipality of Etxebarri, in the southeastern part of the Bilbao metropolitan area as an overground line and sharing tracks with line 2. The line continues overground, crossing the Bilbao river twice on a viaduct, until reaching Bolueta station, an elevated station already inside the Bilbao city limits, after which it enters a tunnel and traverses the Begoña district of Bilbao completely underground. In Zazpikaleak station it
