Progressive Death Metal is a fusion genre, combining elements from death metal and progressive metal. More specifically, death metal elements such as death grunts and blast beats are combined with progressive metal elements such as complex changing time signatures and changing moods. Other traits include unusual instrumentation and acoustic parts.
Vs. Technical Death Metal
[edit]Progressive Death Metal is very similar to Technical Death Metal, as both are subgenres of death metal and both use experimental traits. Also, there is some overlapping between the two genres. But, technical death metal focuses more on technicality, while progressive death metal focuses on experimentation. Also, progressive death metal is a fusion genre, while technical death metal isnt.
