ASMR Darling is a YouTube^[1] channel with over a million subscribers run by Taylor Darling. Her videos get anywhere from a a few hundred thousand views to upwards of seven million. The channel, true to its name, focuses on ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response^[2]). ASMR is a term used to describe the physical reactions that the human body has in response to sensory based factors, specifically a tingling feeling that may radiate through the body, but is usually contained to the upper body - beginning at the scalp and working its way down. On this channel Darling describes the feeling in a video titled, What is ASMR? as a "calming, euphoric, tingly feeling." She suggests that when watching ASMR style videos to go into it with an open mind, as it is the best way to achieve relaxation. On her channel she mostly works with sound triggers within roleplays^[3]: she has created characters such as Bitchy Britney, who will serve you at Starbucks or do your makeup. Through these videos she uses a variety of sound triggers; tapping, whispering, and gentle brushing are frequent sounds, and common triggers in the ASMR community on YouTube.

Taylor Darling

Taylor Darling was born May 14th, 1997, in the United States of America. Darling started her ASMR YouTube channel in December of 2014, but did not post her first ASMR video until May of 2016. She enjoys sports, writing, and acting, and originally aspired to be an actress one day; her channel is a paid job. She first experienced ASMR as a child while watching one of her classmates colouring in elementary school. She discovered ASMR videos on YouTube when she couldn't sleep after a bad breakup, and found that the videos would help her get some rest.

Darling started another channel in September 2016 called "Darling" that features vlogs^[4], games, and a variety of other videos.

ASMR Darling Merchandise

Darling has come out with ASMR Darling themed merchandise through the company Represent Holdings^[5]. Currently Darling has out both long and short sleeve shirts with either "Darling" or, "Hey, it's me" written across the chest. The long sleeve shirts only come in white, but the short sleeve come in white, pink, or blue. Prices range from $24.99 to $29.99USD. The sizes are all inclusive and range from an extra small to a four extra large.
