When did TP&W get trackage rights over WS to Kokomo?

  • 1990-04 (31625): JK acquired Erie from Tippecanoe Railroad
  • 1993-03 (32257): WS acquired Cluster from Conrail
  • 1993-04 (32231): Kokomo Rail acquired C&O from CSX Transportation; operated by CERA
  • 1994-03 (32477): Kokomo Grain acquired C&O from Kokomo Rail; operated by CERA
  • 1995 (32693): Frick (owner of JK and WS) to remain in control of A&R; Frick will sell WS to Central Properties, Inc.
  • 1995-09 (32694): A&R acquired Pennsy from WS; RRB says A&R leased locomotive from JK with JK employees operating, but STB says in adandonment environmental review that WS continued operations
  • 1995-09 (35208): WS to retain trackage rights 18th Street Logansport - Van - filed 2008-12 due to oversight; by that time CERA operated WS as agent (by 1999 in fact) and TP&W absorbed A&R; denied because TP&W terminated the trackage rights effective 2009-01
  • 1997-09 (33458): Cargill, Inc. to control A&R and JK
  • 1997-10 (33481): Marksman leased Erie from JK
  • 1997-10 (33482): TP&W leased Pennsy from A&R
  • 1997-10 (33483): TP&WRR to continue in control of Marksman
  • 1998-05 (33546): Kokomo Grain to control Central Properties, Inc., owner of CERA and Central Railroad of Indiana - probably didn't happen
  • 1998-05 (33605): JK acquired NP from Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway
  • 1998-07 (33585): RailTex to control Central Properties, Inc., owner of CERA and Central Railroad of Indiana
  • 1998-09 (33659): TP&W leased Erie from Marksman
  • 1999-08 (33777): RailAmerica to remain in control of Florida, which will acquire TP&WRR
  • 2002-04: last service on JK
  • 2002-04 (34193): Marksman to absorb Florida (by then owned by RailAmerica indirectly through Palm Beach Rail Holding, Inc.), TP&WRR, and TP&W, and change its name to TP&W (not yet done by 2002-12)
  • 2002-06 (34207): CHS acquired NP from JK; operated by Cenex
  • 2002-06 (34212): CERA to acquire trackage rights over Norfolk Southern Railway's West Marion Belt for a better connection with WS (should be Kokomo Grain?) at Goodman Yard
  • 2002-09: last service on A&R north of Kenneth
  • 2002-12 (845-0): CHS to abandon NP to be operated privately by Cenex
  • 2002-12 (34269): TP&W to control A&R and JK and absorb them
  • 2003-08 (847-1/856-1): JK to abandon and TP&W to stop operating Erie; Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum filed trail request, but apparently only got a portion
  • 2003-08 (847-2/855-1): A&R to abandon and TP&W to stop operating Pennsy, Kenneth - Winamac (says it's A&R's entire line, but that's incorrect)
  • 2003-11: Kokomo Grain filed OFA for A&R; no agreement reached
  • 2004-04: A&R abandonment effective; to become Panhandle Pathway (Indiana Trails Fund)
  • 2008-12: CERA scheduled to stop operating WS
  • 2008-12 (35205): US to lease Logansport from WS and C&O from Kokomo Grain, including disputed trackage rights; stayed pending resolution of trackage rights
Operations of WS
  • 1993 (RRB determination): operates itself
  • 1996 (American Shortline Railway Guide): "operated in conjunction with the Central Railroad of Indianapolis, which provides locomotives"
  • 1997 (Railroads of Indiana): operated by Central Properties, Inc. (not CERA)
  • 1999 (STB FD 33813): operated by CERA as agent
