John Would is a songwriter, musician, producer, engineer, and mixer in Echo Park, California.
About
[edit]John Would was born in Vallejo, California in 1955. He has performed extensively as a multi-instrumentalist (primarily guitarist) and produces/engineers at his studio, Stanley Recordings, with drummer Amy Wood.
As a Producer, Engineer, and Studio Musician
[edit]Most recently, Would recorded Fiona Apple's album The Idler Wheel.... He produced, recorded, and played on, and mixed Let's Boot and Rally with Iggy Pop and Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast for HBO's True Blood. He arranged and played on a remix of the T. Rex song Children of the Revolution for Gary Calamar and KCRW. He recorded, played on, and mixed Wanda Jacksons' I Remember Elvis, co-produced Graham Parker's Your Country, and has worked extensively with The Donnies The Amys. He has also worked with Lucinda Williams, Warren Zevon, Wild Colonials, Margaret Cho, Pony Boy, Chuck E. Weiss, and many other prominent musicians/entertainers. Would works almost exclusively out of his studio, Stanley Recordings, in Echo Park.

[edit]John Would released an album under the name The Quincy Blaque Trio titled Uneasy Listening Music, and is currently planning to release a second album under this pseudonym. He has released three albums with the band Yortoise.
