The Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel is located in Williamsburg, Michigan and is one of the first casinos in the United States to be owned by a tribe. It is located four miles east of Traverse City on M-72. The Hotel and Casino combined is about 360,000 square feet.[1] Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel is part of Grand Traverse Resorts along with their sister casino Leelanau Sands. The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians own the casinos and resort. Turtle Creek was rebuilt and reopened on June 17th, 2008 and now includes various new amenities.

Casino

The casino itself is 56,000 square feet and is open 24/7. The floor features over 650 different kinds of slot machines, so a guest has a variety to choose from. Table games include:

They have various tables with different money limits for every type of player. The casino also features a poker room where tournaments are held and it’s also used for daily poker activities.[2] Smoking is permitted on the casino floor however there are smoke-free tables for people to play at. This Casino is truly “Vegas style” and it also has a high stakes room with table games and slots for the more experienced gambler.

Hotel

The Hotel that is connected to Turtle Creek Casino is brand new and was built in 2008. It was rated 4 stars by Getaway Magazine and called a “work of art” by Traverse City Natives. The hotel was built with modern technology and has 137 guest rooms and 23 suites. The hotel has a 4,500 square foot meeting center, gift shop, and 24/7-fitness center. [3] The hotel offers four types of rooms:

  • Traditional Room - 300 square feet
  • Balcony Room - 350 square feet
  • Junior Suite - 300 square feet
  • Deluxe Suite - 500 square feet

The rates for rooms depend upon season but rooms can cost anywhere from $100 a night to $300 a night.

Restaurants

Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel has 4 different restaurants to choose from:

  • Bourbon 72 Steakhouse
  • Seasons Buffet
  • Coffee Spoon
  • The Deli

The Bourbon 72 Steakhouse is a first class restaurant, which gives you a casual dining experience. The steakhouse offers a wide variety of USDA certified meats. Season Buffet has a variety of regional and ethnic foods such as American, Asian, Italian, and Spanish. Coffee Spoon has all your coffee needs such as coffee, hot chocolate, cappuccino, and espresso. This coffee lounge with modern couches and chairs overlooks the gaming floor from the 2nd story of the casino. The Deli is open 24/7 for in restaurant dining and room service. The Deli offers a variety of subs, sandwich’s, pizzas, and pastas. [4]

Entertainment/Activities

The Level 3 Lounge is open Thursday - Sunday and is 18 years and older to enter. Drinks are also served at multiple bars around the casino. When Level 3 is closed on the weekdays guests can drink and listen to music in the casino and outside on the casino patio where food is also served. When guests are tired of drinking and its time to relax, they can get away to one of three championship golf courses which include:

Golf Magazine awarded Grand Traverse Resort a Silver Medal and Golf Digest rated these courses among the best. [5]

Going Green

This casino and hotel was built with our environment in mind. 80% of the old Turtle Creek Casino was recycled and used to help build the new one. [6]All slot machines are low energy and use up to 50% less energy than traditional slot machines. The casino has a 2,400 square foot Green Roof, making Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel the first casino in Michigan with a Green Roof. The Casino hauls away any grease instead of spilling it on the property and all cardboard is bundled up and recycled.[7]
