Most online storefronts have store-wide seasonal sales roughly around the equinoxes and major Western holidays, skewed toward November/December for Western shopping traditions. Award nominations and top ten lists usually get posted somewhere around November or December. Other huge, seemingly random spikes in popularity could be free giveaways, DLC announcements, and ports to new platforms.

Graphics style is my subjective opinion:

  • "Pixel art" – stylized, low-poly art that looks like it was done in MS Paint. Common in arcade games and retro games. Example: Space Invaders
  • "Cartoony" – exaggerated Western art that doesn't even try to look realistic. Common in kids' games and adventure games. Example: Psychonauts
  • "Anime" – explicitly attempting to replicate the look of stylized Japanese cartoons. Common in visual novels and JRPGs. Example: Persona 5
  • "Hand drawn" – Art that generally looks like old hand-drawn comic books. Subjectively less goofy than cartoony visuals. Example: Darkest Dungeon
  • "Realistic" – probably a bit cartoony or pixelated, but it's at least attempting to look vaguely realistic. Common in RPGs. Example: Diablo
