Casting and creation

[edit]

The role was originated by Elissa Leeds in the summer of 1976. However, Leeds was replaced by Barr within in just a few months.[1] According to the producers, Leeds was not mature enough to play the 18 year old Brooke, her being the same age as the character.[2] Barr announced her departure from the series in early 1981, and made her last appearance in June of that year. She was quickly replaced by Harriet Hall.[3] However, Hall was later let go and Barr returned to the series on November 12, 1982.[4]
