- Moops - HA! Thanks! :-) It was a nightmare to keep maintained at times... If you got it wet in the shower, it would insanely curl up. If you let it go without being brushed for some time (we all get busy, stressed, etc), it would become badly matted and entangled - almost to the point where it would become dreaded. Fixing that mess once took about 45 minutes in the shower to untangle, wash, comb, dry... LOL :-D ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:01, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

Question from LottieIon on Draft:Tom Larkin (10:58, 2 January 2023)
Hello!
I am creating a page for an actor, and want to insert the summary box in the top right (name, occupation, education, years active, etc). How do I create that? --LottieIon (talk) 10:58, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) hi @LottieIon! that would be through an Infobox, in this case you would use an {{Infobox person}}. you may input templates like infoboxes using the puzzle piece button on the header of the edit menu, and a popup should appear that'll help you input the data needed. happy editing! 💜 melecie talk - 11:07, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Happy Sixteenth First Edit Day!
Hey, Oshwah. I'd like to wish you a wonderful First Edit Day on behalf of the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! Have a great day! Chris Troutman (talk) 19:41, 5 January 2023 (UTC) |
- Chris troutman - I can't believe that it's really been SIXTEEN YEARS since the day I first joined Wikipedia. It's been an absolute privilege to be given the level of duties and responsibilities and trust that I have today on this project. Over these years, I've solved many tough challenges, overcome many falls and hardships, made very hard decisions, and carried out very difficult tasks. It's not always fun to do, but - as cliche as this phrase is - someone actually does have to do it. All-in-all, despite all of its challenges, Wikipedia has been a great movement to volunteer for, and I'm excited for what lies ahead. Thank you for the anniversary wish. I appreciate it very much. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:53, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
Help with my first article.
Hi Oshwah, I created my first article and I would love if you could have a look on the draft and help me how to find the right place and move the draft.
https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Draft:Conrad_E._Heiderer&action=edit§ion=1
Thank you very much! Gabaretha (talk) 10:43, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Gabaretha! It looks like you've already taken the right steps with the draft that you created by submitting it to the articles for creation team for review. I highly recommend that you follow the input and advice that they leave for you. All members of the articles for creation team are experienced users who are selected to be part of the team due to their demonstrable level of knowledge with the relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines involving the creation of articles. Specifically, it's important that you review and understand Wikipedia's policies and guidelines on verifiability and notability; the lack of understanding of these policies is by far the top reason that drafts are rejected and new articles ultimately wind up deleted.
- If you have any questions about these policies, please don't hesitate to reach out to me and ask. I'll be more than happy to take the time to explain them in a way that makes sense to you, clarify any confusion, and answer any questions that you have. Don't give up! The very first articles that I created back when I was new to Wikipedia all wound up being deleted. It's disheartening each time that it happened, but it also provided a great learning experience for me as well. And hey, 16 years have gone by since those articles I wrote were deleted, and I'm still here! Those articles I wrote long ago didn't hold me back or negatively affect my ability to gain and retain community respect and become who I am today on Wikipedia. I'm happy to be part of this community and the project, and if you keep with it, you definitely will be happy too! :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 04:39, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

They mean a lot to me, and remind me as to why I've been a member of this community for 16 years, and why I continue to volunteer my time and energy towards the project to this day. Hate it to break it to you
I hate to break it to you, but you got demoted from 43rd most active English Wikipedian of all time to 51st . MasterMatt12(talk) 01:15, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- MasterMatt12 - NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!...... Ugh, that just shows you how busy I've been as of late with work, the holidays, and studying for a certification that I need. It's good in a way to see that there are other long-term editors who are still active on this project to this day and continuing to make contributions here. Otherwise, my all-time most active Wikipedian "rank" (for lack of a better term) wouldn't be decreasing. :-)
- Oh well... honestly, the number of edits that one accumulates only make up a small part of what is necessary and needed in order for one to be considered globally respected, knowledgeable, and experienced on Wikipedia. For example, you can have an edit count that reaches into the billions... but it doesn't mean much at all in "the big picture" if you can't achieve and consistently maintain a high level of respect, confidence, reliability, and trust with other editors and the community as a whole. A bazillion edits won't look as good if I have, for example, a highly extensive block log in proportion (especially if they're for ongoing and repeated issues), a long record of making trips or being dragged down to ANI for issues that I've caused, or an ongoing history of being subject to bans, editing restrictions, or heaven forbid - ArbCom cases and remedies.
- That being said, I must up my rank on that list! LOL :-P.... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:00, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

- Now I'm curious about what you think. So...? Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 20:07, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- Clovermoss - Seems about right to me when I take this project as a whole into account. ;-) The time between edits was so high at the beginning due to the project's founding and the low number of users who have joined. As the project grew, so did the number of contributors, and hence so did the number of edits. As time went on, the number of edits eventually plateaued; it hit its peak and then started circle around that peak. For how large this project is, it's not surprising that we've kept a pretty consistent number of edits over time. It is perhaps surprising to see that we've reached that peak so soon relative to the project's founding and today. Interesting data for sure! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:36, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Protected pages with templates residing in Userspace
Hi Oshwah, in a recent page import, protected pages with some of your templates were found still residing in Userspace, which may not be the intended final resting place. As per this conversation, they may have simply been forgotten, and perhaps 2023 would be a good year to move them out of Userspace? Wikipedia over Template namespace would be my choice...but moving them (if at all) is of course your call. No pressure... or rush! :) Thanks! — WILDSTARTALK 00:19, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- Oshwah, referring to {{PPRightPlace}} in Wikipedia:Protection policy, not {{ADMINRightPlace}}. — WILDSTARTALK 07:59, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- WildStar - Good call, and thanks for pointing that out to me. I must've missed that template while I was moving the other "are you in the right place?" templates I created out of my user space and into the correct place. Question from Aquarian67 (17:14, 12 January 2023)
Hello Oshwah, How do I create the demographics box on Right margin? --Aquarian67 (talk) 17:14, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

Bio Notice
Hey Oshwah!
I noticed there is a bio-notice template message that has been on my Wiki page for a while now. I made sure that all of the information was properly referenced and everything was done right, so I'm just trying to figure out how to remove this notice and have my page go back to how it initially was. Let me know if you might have any information on this at all! Thank you so much! Jrok89 (talk) 06:21, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Jrok89: Do you mean the Jared Evan article...? --CiaPan (talk) 19:01, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Jrok89: I'm afraid many of referenced Web pages do not count as reliable sources. Specifically, YouTube videos are user-generated contents, so they are usually considered biased (presenting a private point of view). Similarly interviews present opinions of the subject about themself, and as such they are not independent, as required by WP:Verifiability. A Wikipedia article needs independent, reliable, secondary sources, that is important, thorough information published by other people, not connected to the subject. --CiaPan (talk) 21:23, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Jrok89! Are you talking about the big notice that you see at the top of the Jared Evan article that you've been editing? If so, there's no need or reason to panic... Why not just relax, move onto another article, and let those issues get addressed by other editors over time? Remember that not everything needs to be taken care of and sorted right now; these issues are not a "911" level of priority. You have to remember that Wikipedia is a project that continuously grows, expands, and improves over time - a true Encyclopedia will never be "finished". It's not up to you to have to fix everything; it's okay to move on and allocate your time and energy toward improving other articles, too. :-) I say to you, "fear not"! In the end, it's all going to work out just fine... You just have to let the project, the community, the culture, and all of the other volunteers help with some of the work. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:53, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
Question from Squadron892 (05:08, 19 January 2023)
What happened to the Search box? Where can I now read articles that interest me? --Squadron892 (talk) 05:08, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Squadron892! The search box is still located at the very top of every page on Wikipedia, but it's now located near the left corner (immediately to the right of the picture of the Wikipedia logo). The new Vector 2022 interface was deployed onto the English Wikipedia today, which introduces some new changes to how things will appear. If you take a look at this image from the WMF page introducing the new look, you should see the search bar at the very top near the left-hand side. If you don't see the search bar where it should be, make sure that you have any ad blocking software or other tools that may block pages or objects turned off. You can also try using a different browser to see if you see it there. Please let me know if you still can't find it, and I can upload a screenshot with the search bar circled in red for you. Cheers, and happy editing! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:30, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
Question about edits on El Kalimat International School
Hi Oshwah,
Thanks for your contributions to wikipedia! I have a bit of a random question about your edits on the page of El Kalimat International School in Algiers. From what I can see, there is little to no information on this school and the only reference on the page is to the WayBack Machine which references a basic, almost fake looking website, which last has a working snapshot in 2016. The school does not seem to have a working website anymore, and there are virtually no pictures or references to it online, and there is no evidence of any alumni online. I was wondering why you made the edits you made to this page, especially as the school seems to be not functioning and / or fake. I hope you can help me understand a bit more as I have become intrigued by the mystery of this school which, it seems may not have ever existed yet somehow has a small number of strange reviews/ discussions about it, from around 2014-2016. I would highly appreciate any information.
Thanks in advance for any help! 86.82.75.44 (talk) 08:33, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there! Thanks for leaving me a message with your questions and concerns. I believe that you're referring to this article - is that correct? If so, then yes - I made two edits to the article, which I can easily explain to you. The first edit I made was this one back in August 2016. This edit removed vandalism that was added to the article. As you can see with the diff, I simply undid the change that was made by the previous user and restored the article back to what it was before the edit was made. The second edit that I made here in September 2018 also restored the article's content back to what it was before it was edited by the previous user, but for a different reason. The edit added unreferenced and unverifiable content, and needed to be reverted. My edits were not done in order to endorse or support the article itself (I did no research in regards to the article's legitimacy), but only to remove unacceptable content that was added to it.
- From what you describe, it sounds like you've conducted your own level of searching and research into this article subject, and have not found any reliable sources to show that its a notable institution. Not only this, your research has also lead you to believe that this institution may not be legitimate at all. If this is the case, I recommend that you nominate the article for deletion. Doing so will start a discussion among editors who frequently research article subjects, patrol current nominations, and will result in those users providing input to that discussion in order to decide by consensus whether or not the article should be kept. Instructions for nominating an article can be found here. If these instructions prove too complicated for you to complete, you can automate the process by creating an account and enabling Twinkle. It will add a menu option to do it all for you.
- I hope my response was helpful to you! Please let me know if you have any more questions, and I'll be happy to answer them and assist you further. Happy editing! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:37, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

That's pretty much it! Question about "LTA edit summary or editing pattern hit"
Hi Oshwah,
I've grown suspicious about a brand-new account (Http204) that is commenting quite prolifically on Talk:LGBT grooming conspiracy theory. I'm trying to figure out if there are patterns that closely match any known LTAs in the gen/sex topic area. I took a look at the talk page filter log and saw that this account had recently tripped a number of filters, including one that mentions your user name in the description: "LTA edit summary or editing pattern hit (Oshwah)". Can you add anything that might help me understand this? Or is there enough information in just the filter trip for a checkuser run? I will of course understand if this is premature and you can't help me. In that case I'll just keep digging. Best, Generalrelative (talk) 01:56, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- Generalrelative - Investigating... Let me take a look... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:24, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- Generalrelative - Since this is a private edit filter, I've gone and emailed you my response along with an explanation for why the filter tripped, so check your email and you'll see it. Please keep those details private, as sharing them publicly can result in LTA users seeing it and then using that information to try and get around the filter. Please let me know if you have any more questions. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:35, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

Question from Ajitmusa (07:04, 23 January 2023)
Does Editors on Wikipedia paid --Ajitmusa (talk) 07:04, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Ajitmusa! Welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia is a volunteer service; editors and members of the Wikipedia community are not paid by the Wikimedia Foundation. Once in awhile, you might run into a user who has disclosed that they are being paid to edit Wikipedia. However, these users are being paid or compensated by non-affiliated entities (such as the user's employer as part of their job duties). Please let me know if you have any more questions, and I'll be more than happy to answer them. :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:29, 23 January 2023 (UTC)
Wikipedia sound logo
If I hacked into your main Wikimedia account and all of your doppelgänger ones (the whole SUL thing) and used them to vote many times for the same sound logos' order of preferences from the same IP address and browser agent before the voting had closed, would the votes be invalidated once found out? Is there an automatic notification system that notifies CheckUsers of votes from duplicate IP addresses? --154.20.213.253 (talk) 04:04, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there! LOL, quite a hypothetical situation that we're talking about here! :-) A few things that would foil your (or someone else's) plans to commandeer and use my accounts to a cast multiple votes into a discussion: All of my doppelgänger accounts are indefinitely blocked and with everything disabled and revoked, so you'd essentially have control over accounts that can't do anything. ;-) That aside, if this hypothetical plan were investigated and discovered, the answer would be 'yes' - the votes you cast would absolutely be invalidated; it would be considered a "slam dunk" and an open-and-shut case if all of the actions and edits you made while in control of my accounts were logged from the same IP address and agent information. The answer to your second question is best said with... 'yes and no'. There are automatic tools, scrips, and APIs put in place to monitor suspicious activity using various strategies and comparisons, but the ultimate verification lies with a checkuser who has access to the technical data. ;-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 04:09, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Where in the MediaWiki open-source code is the automatic notification system in, if such a code is even there at all? What if I used different IP addresses and browser agents, but use the doppelgänger accounts that were signed up while logged into the Oshwah account? --154.20.213.253 (talk) 02:55, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there, and welcome back! :-) The tools and scripts that I referred to above are not items that are built into the MediaWiki interface or code; you won't find any kind of source code in relation to them on the MediaWiki site. To your other question: There's no straight "black-and-white yes-or-no" answer that I could give you regarding this hypothetical situation. It would all depend on how badly (or how well) you covered your tracks after commandeering my accounts and during the time you put your "plan" into motion. ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:04, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

Can I make a draft about JBMod?
I'm just wondering if I am allowed to make a draft for that certain HL2 mod that came before Garry's Mod. Mann vs. Machine (talk) 19:18, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Mann vs. Machine - I don't see a problem with that. However, you'll want to make sure that the article subject is notable before you spend time toward doing that. Else, you'll uptimately be wasting your time. See Wikipedia's articles for creation project page for more information on creating draft pages and getting your submission reviewed and promoted to become an article. Please let me know if you have any more questions, and I'll be happy to answer them. Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:55, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

Returning abusive user you blocked
Five days ago, you blocked Shimbawabumbum as a vandalism-only account. He's back under a new account, Uyghbuyhbuhiuh . I presume this will eventually lead to a SPI history for another long-term abuser, but I figured giving you a heads-up would be quicker. Tarl N. (discuss) 16:28, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- For what's it's worth, I filed an SPI investigation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarl N. (talk • contribs) 16:38, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Tarl N.! Thanks for the message and for letting me know about the user's return while evading their block. You did exactly the right thing by filing an SPI report - that's something everyone should do in situations and cases where sock puppetry between more than one account is suspected and where evidence can be presented. It looks like the account has since been blocked, and your SPI report has since resulted in a confirmation by a checkuser that the accounts are sock puppets, so hey - well done! If you need anything else or have any questions or requests, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. My door is always open! :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:46, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
Question regarding non free images
Hello, Oshwah, hope you are well today! I have been having a bit of trouble on Wikipedia today regarding uploading non free images. I asked at the help desk, although no one was able to help. One person did, although they said they don’t really work with images, I was wondering if you would be able to help? Basically, the UK radio station Smooth Radio (2014) has had a new logo. I found an image, and was worried about uploading it, as I didn’t want to violate any copyright. If I was to upload it as a fair use image, I’d need to include a link to where I found it. Is this an okay link to use: [1]? Thanks, :-) Blanchey (talk) 19:20, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- Update: it appears that another user has taken care of changing the image, by using a similar image, so this situation seems sorted now. Again, hope you are well :-) Blanchey (talk) 22:17, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Blanchey! I apologize for taking so long to respond to your message and your questions regarding the copyright of images. I'm glad that another user has taken care of the issue. However, if you would still like to read up on image copyrights, I would start here. If, from there, you run into any questions, please don't hesitate to respond and ask. I'll be more than happy to clarify any confusion and help you. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:17, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
User:Kroba1938/sandbox
Hello , thank you so much for vising my page , I wanted to ask what I should provide in order to be able to publish the article ? Kroba1938 (talk) 20:46, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- (by talk reader) @Kroba1938: Just to clarify, you don't have a page. No one "has" pages in terms of ownership because this is a collective effort to write an encyclopedia. Now, if you mean your sandbox entry, what we would need to see: a statement from explaining your relationship to this subject and some claim of notability. I see neither. Often new editors seek to write articles for their own ends not realizing what Wikipedia requires and what our volunteers do. This is often the cause of conflict. Please read up writing an article and then you can get back to us. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:55, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Kroba1938! Thanks for leaving me a message here regarding your sandbox and the posting of a potential new article. I'll be happy to help you. Is this... you? Are you publishing an autobiography? If so, these are highly discouraged. If I'm incorrect, can you provide me with more context as to who this is? Are they related to you? Thanks. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:09, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
