Dennis Patrick Kelly (born January 23, 1984 in Dallas, Texas) is an American-born international baseball player who most recently played for Mainz Athletics in the Bundesliga (baseball).

College

Kelly grew up in Dallas, Texas where he attended Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas. He then attended Austin College, playing on the college baseball team from 2003 to 2006. Kelly was a college star, setting Austin College records for average (.436, 2005), hits (65, 2005), doubles (15, 2006), runs (34, 2005, then 46 in 2006). [1] He was a NCAA Division III All-American West Region in 2006. [2]

Professional

Kelly signed with the Karlskoga Bats of the Swedish Elitserien (baseball) in 2008. [3] He batted .521/.567/.848. [4] He alternated between center field and shortstop. [5] He led the Elitserien in average (.035 over Magnus Pilegård), slugging (.003 over Eunique Johnson), home runs (6, tied for the lead), triples (6) and runs scored (50). [6]

For 2009, Kelly moved to the French Division Élite with the Barracudas de Montpellier. [7] He finished as the Hitter of the Year in France with a .411 batting average and .607 slugging percentage. [8] He finished second in average, tied for second in slugging, was 3rd with 29 runs, led with 44 hits, tied for 3rd with 23 RBI, led with five triples and tied Kenji Hagiwara for the most steals (20). [9]

Kelly's European journeys continued in 2010 with the Mannheim Tornados of the Bundesliga (baseball). In his first at-bat in Germany, he homered off Boris Bokaj in a 8-1 loss to Regensburg. [10] Kelly went on to win the 2010 Bundesliga South, Hitter of the year. [11] In his first year in German baseball, he led the German statistics not only for OPS, but also in slugging percentage (.708), runs (39), walks (23) and Stolen Bases (19). He also was in the top five in hits (48), doubles (10), homeruns (6), and batting average (.425).

Kelly transferred to the Mainz Athletics of the Bundesliga (baseball) for the 2012 season. <ref>[3] Kelly, again produced offensively with a batting average of .311 and slugging percentage of .462. <ref>[4]
