Affection by Lucien Wercollier, bronze, 1980

Affection is the name of a bronze sculpture by Lucien Wercollier that stands on Square Marcel Goedert in Bridel, Luxembourg.

The sculpture

[edit]

It stands on an approximately 2m high plinth made of red granite, on which the name of the artwork, the artist and the year 1980 are engraved:

Affection
Lucien Wercollier
sculpteur, 1980.

The sculpture comes in two versions:

  • a small version, in alabaster, from 1978;
  • a large version, commissioned by the municipality of Kopstal, was cast in bronze to be erected in a public square.

Notes

[edit]
  • In the same square there is an old oak, which is characterized as a tree of peace. The plaque on the stone next to the tree reads:

Arbre de la Paix 11 novembre 1986

  • 100 m away from the Square Marcel Goedert stands an oak that is one of the most remarkable trees in Luxembourg.
